And We're Off...
Kind of a hectic morning. I was supposed to pick up my Eurail Pass from (stupid DHL), but it got delayed even more, so I couldn't get it. I also wanted to go change the last of my coins into bills at a Coinstar machine, but of course I'm running late and when I get there this guy is pouring in his fourth of five bags into the machine. If you have never used a Coinstar machine, you can't just dump everything in...the coins have to be slid in slowly, so I'm sitting there watching this guy slide in what would come out to $330 in coins. Unbelievable.
Overall the day of travel went fairly smoothly. Other than a few delays enroute to London, no real problems to report. After lightning struck an airplane gate (2 hr delay) and my taxi got a flat tire (1 hr delay and a scary ass walk along the highway to another cab) in my last two trips to Chicago, this layover seemed a little pedestrian.
One thing that surprised me about London is its large area...no hills like SF though, guess not every city is perfect. The city is every bit as expensive as people say...imagine all the prices the same, except in pounds rather than dollars. Got a cell phone today, took about three hours to navigate all the complicated plans. Out to explore the city more tomorrow, more updates to come...
