Laboring at the Gym...and then at the Stove
So my parents left yesterday afternoon after a quick lunch at Pret a Manger (think Au bon Pan except a lot better), meaning the "Taste of London" is now over and the intense scrutiny of food prices now begins. I also worked out for the first time in about two weeks yesterday at this semi-lower end gym near my dorm.
There was no way this could go well: I ended up forgetting to bring a water bottle, and they ran out of cups there for the water cooler, so in one hour of biking / lifting, and one and a half hours of basketball, I didn't have any water. Really healthy, I know.
Anyway so I went to buy dinner after working out: a pack of cooked chicken breasts to cut up for pasta and a bag of veggies as a side dish. Cooking for me is kind of torture because I don't want to sit there and prepare dinner while I'm starving...I just want to eat it. I found myself sneaking bits of chicken while the sauce was heating, and trying more than sufficient forkfuls of pasta. Other than a steam burn from the microwaveable veggie bag, there were no huge disasters...no alarms went off, no scars on my body, and the food was edible. That's a success in my book.
Here's the evidence:
